The Goodguys 27th Wesco Autoubody Supply Pacific Northwest Nationals is a truly unique event. Held at the Washington State Fair Events Center in Puyallup, Washington every year as Fall rapidly approaches, this gem has been on our “must hit” list for sometime now. The Northwest always has a nice hometown feel, but also some of the best customs that not many ever see are hidden up North and rarely make appearances at other shows. That’s why this year’s Goodguys Pacific Northwest Nationals was definitely a favorite for our staff. It’s nice because there really is a little bit of everything. The weekend kicks off with the drags and watching show cars and race cars line up all side-by-side is truly an experience in of itself. Needless to say, it’s quite impressive and awe inspiring to see these machines in action.

The sights, sounds, and smell of race gas and tires – a great place to be! Saturday the line-up starts bright and early as the gates open at 6 a.m. and lasts for a few hours until the show grounds is chalk full with customs from all over the Northwest, and some venturing in from the south and midwest as well. The eclectic mix that the Goodguys Northwest shows bring in is refreshing. Everything from full drag cars, street rods, hot rods, rat rods, full customs, and even a few really nice trucks. Killer rides as far as the eye could see, not to mention, a ton of unique rides that you only see up North.
Friends and families all come out to show their ride and enjoy the creativity of others. The atmosphere at a Goodguys event is one of “belonging” and camaraderie, and maybe even more so in the Northwest. As the weekend progresses it becomes increasingly evident just how friendly everyone is. And with such gorgeous cars cruising the fair grounds all weekend long, we wouldn’t expect much different. Vendors lined up from all over the country with show specials and goodies to help put the finishing touches on that project build awaiting the final piece of the puzzle.
Goodguys is very aware of getting the youth involved, and is shows. They encourage the youth through several different events and even offer coloring and model build sections with 100 free models for kids to put together. And what’s better than getting your family involved in your passion you ask – nothing! The show ended with another parade into the night with car after car and even a couple Volkswagen vans crammed full of people just to cruise around and enjoy the scenery. These events are exactly what we need more of to keep the next generation into building cars and get them away from their video games. Support as many of these events as you can, and continue to pass the torch to the next generation. We’ll see you out there!
