Every year in New South Wales, Australia a very special event his held in memoriam of Cameron Burke. The Cameron Burke Foundation was set up in memory of Cameron William Burke who was born April 29th, 2007 and ultimately grew his angel wings on November 26th, 2009 at just 2 years and 7 months old. In honor of little Cameron an annual car and bike show takes place at the Springwood Country Club (NSW, Australia) on the Sunday of the long June weekend. The mission is to help children and child related services to contribute to the research into Hirschsprung’s Disease and Sodium Loss in young children.

This year was the 4th annual Camsday, the Cameron Burke Memorial Hot Rod, Car, Bike Show and Family day. Entrants poured in from as early as 6am and by 11am they were packed 375m down the fairway three-wide and onto the main car park. As always, this is very much a family event, with plenty of attractions for everyone. This includes a full market and swap, jumping castle, reptile shows, live bands, petting zoo, trike rides and of course a great array of the cars and bikes that were on display throughout the day.

The momentum that Cam’s Day has gained the last few years is nothing short of incredible. With local businesses such as Killer Customs and National Businesses such as Coates Hire and Shannon’s Insurance and the many car clubs including The Blue Mountains Hot Rod Club, No Regrets, Zero Altitude, Severed Ties, Ground Level and Horizontal Minitrucks all throwing their support behind the event and seeing Michael and Allanas’ vision in remembering and honouring their son is a true testament to the camaraderie and family hood of our scene. Like 2014 all money raised has been donated to NETS newborn and pediatric Emergency Transport Services which Cameron used twice. Less than 10% of the overall running cost of NETS is subsidized by the NSW government, NETS relies largely on such charities to help raise funds.

This year’s tally, still being accumulated via auctions etc has seen in excess of $16,000 (Aus) raised for the cause which is an amazing effort for everyone involved, but most thanks go out to all of the sponsors and general public for supporting the day. It would be impossible to put on such a successful event without the help and support of local volunteers, sponsors, friends, and family. For more information about other Cameron Burke Foundation events or if you’re interested in donating to the cause, check them out on Facebook HERE.

Michael and Allana would like to thank Killer Customs, Shannon’s Insurance, Coates Hire, NSW Police, Wild Ride Australia, Toast Graphics & Slam’d Mag, all the Car and Bike Clubs who sponsored and attended, other sponsors and supporters, the Bands who played the show, and the community for getting behind us to help others in similar situations. Most of all they would like to thank Cameron, “he taught us to live life with nothing but love and to cherish each and everyday, and for that we can’t even thank him enough, he will always be with us.” Now wipe away the tears, and mark your calendar to hit this wonderful event for a great cause!
