Friends, Family, Support. These three words ring true for owner Tim Wepprecht when it came time to expand his custom audio shop to a larger location. Audiotistics was about to undergo a massive remodel and move to include both a larger retail and a more in-depth custom fabrication location in Victorville, California. Once the location was scouted and the keys were handed over, Tim and crew quickly got to work prepping and building the new shop for their upcoming Grand Opening and open house.  Photos & Words: Mike Alexander With the dates announced, the countdown began and with the help of friends and family, Tim and the Audiotistics team had their new digs up and running in no time. When the weekend of the official Grand Opening was here, friends came from near and far to show their support and custom rigs were setup by CT Sounds, Slam’d Mag, BST Clothing,…Continue Reading
We’ve all been there… sprawled out on the couch, laptop in hand aimlessly trolling the interwebs at some ungodly hour looking for who knows what… and then BOOM – you see it! That car or truck that you had always been looking for but didn’t quite know it yet and for some reason you were only now able to find it at 3 a.m., which of course means no sleep, yet again. After hours eBay sessions can be both extremely rewarding and oftentimes costly but once in a blue moon we stumble across that rare gem, something that speaks directly to our soul and just begs for our own custom visions to come to life.  Photos: Matt Clifford | Words: Steve “Chance” Berndsen Our bud, Jamie McToldridge of the Players Show fame, can’t say that he himself had the good fortune of finding such a beauty, but lucky for us his good…Continue Reading
The Slam’d lifestyle began for Gary Donkers as it does for so many others that are bitten by the custom bug. He started working on one project that soon ended up on the back burner as his interests shifted. One thing led to another and he soon found himself traveling down to the States to pickup this 1995 Ford Ranger. Things quickly began to spiral out of control with the new build that was just “supposed to be something fun to hold him over” and before he knew it all of his time, energy, and funds were being funneled into this black beauty you see laid out before you. Photos: Mike & Jesse of Dub Dynasty | Words: Jason Ballard Although the Ford Ranger was a complete build that certainly didn’t mean that Gary wouldn’t make it his own. Like any pre-built vehicle it was in need of some repairs…Continue Reading
Although there are many different and equally amazing reasons to travel to Japan and take in the extensive automotive culture that they have amassed over the years, one of our favorites is the Yokohama Mooneyes Hot Rod & Custom Show held every year in the Pacifico Yokohama exhibition hall, a column free open design covering an area of almost 75,000 sq. ft. This year was the 23rd Annual HRCS with the theme/motto of “Be Calm Not Loud” that the Mooneyes crew really pushed to help ensure it’s continuing success and ability to be held in downtown Yokohama.  Photos & Words: Mike Alexander There were many changes this year compared to the previous years, with the “Be Calm Not Loud” Shizukani campaign at the center of these changes. There was no motorcycle parking on the day of the show as well as minimizing motored vehicle access from the immediate area to help…Continue Reading
We brought you a quick preview from Lone Star Throwdown 2015, but now it’s time to check out all that this ginormous event had to offer. We were fortunate enough to find a few local SoCal truckers as crazy as we are to make the trek out to Lone Star Throwdown this year, despite the dooming weather reports. Like some, we didn’t jump in a comfortable plane and catch a cozy flight – NOPE! We loaded our trailers with debut rides and Slam’d gear goodies and made the 3,200+ mile roundtrip trek to witness a record breaking year, first hand. Photos: The Slam’d Crew – Alex Dooley, Sean French, Mike Alexander, Frank Newton, Stetson Bowerman, Anthony Gonzales With threatening weather reports of a giant storm rolling through Texas the weekend of LST it was a huge gamble, but the hardworking LST crew had put their all into throwing one hell of a show and…Continue Reading
Blood, sweat, and tears are common ingredients for most home builders when it comes to perfecting their rides in their garage, but for Chris and Nancy Swisher’s 1964 Buick Riviera there were gallons of each contributed and poured into this car by many to help get to this glorious state. Unfortunately, this wasn’t one of those builds where things go as planned. But as they say, anything worth doing is never easy and the Swisher’s stuck to their guns to see this beauty through. Photos & Words: Lindsey Fisher Chris is one of those enthusiasts that was literally born into the car scene. His dad and his friends all had cool cars as Chris was growing up, so it was hard for him not to fall in love with the custom scene. For Nancy, Chris’s wife, it was her older brothers and their friends that introduced the world of cars to her. Ultimately,…Continue Reading
Ever since vehicles were first conceived man has strived to push the boundaries both physically and mechanically around the world in all disciplines. Whether by setting land speed records on the salt flats at Boneville or pitting ourselves against one another in fast paced enduros at Laguna Seca; we have built a culture imbedded with innovation and style that many fail to understand or sometimes even accept. Here at Slam’d Mag we appreciate a well-rounded dose of just about anything; provided it meets our only two requirements (#1 is low, #2 is badass – easy enough right?!) and for our latest feature we decided to step into the world of grass roots Drifting for a little change of pace… and by step we mean completely sideways for a reverse entry crash course into the life of one such enthusiast. The minitruckin’ lifestyle is definitely alive and kicking in Australia and there’s no better way to get amongst this lifestyle down under than by taking part in the annual pilgrimage to Bateman’s Bay in November for East Coast Cruise. The trucks started rolling into town on Friday, with laid out minitrucks quickly filling up all the hotel car parks and surrounding areas. First stop, the Bayview Pub to mash it up with maverick minitruckers over a frosty beverage. When dusk comes around, the town is soon packed to the rafters with the usual suspects and a sea full of black shirts sporting their favorite club logos in attendance. The “morning after” comes all too quickly and it’s time to pack up and roll out. The trucks head south and reacquaint their sills with Princess Highway, Moruya bound. Riverside Park was the next stop and was soon engulfed with an overflow…Continue Reading
