For 2014 we wanted to do something special to remember and commemorate all of the amazing rides and people that we were fortunate enough to capture and work with for the inaugural year of Slam’d Magazine. Looking back on our first year, it’s quite amazing to see the plethora of high-quality rides and photos from around the globe that we were able to create and share, and we couldn’t do it without our ultra-talented support staff. When we first set out to bring you a digital magazine chock full of all of the baddest rides worldwide, regardless of genre, we certainly had our work cut out for us, but with a well laid plan and a world-class team we exceeded even our own expectations! The four categories our staff chose for the 2014 End of the Year (EOTY) Slam’d Mag awards were, Truck of the Year, Car of the Year, Rod & Custom of the Year,…Continue Reading
We say and hear it every single year, but this year was a bit different and it really did just fly by! 2014 was a blur of awesomeness with the official launch of Slam’d Mag and it came and went before we could even catch our breath. Through the holidays our rides and projects tend to take a back seat to the rest of the family and they sit in the garage or shop neglected; dusty and forgotten. Most couples rush to PromoCodeWatch.com to find last minute deals for each other after leaving the present buying way too late. It can be hard not working in the garage for a while. Well have no fear, Slam’d Mag has the cure for those holiday project blues! We’ve teamed up with our partners to bring you something a bit different than the boring Holiday Buyer’s Guides you might be use to seeing this time of year, and in true Slam’d fashion we spiced it up a bit, so here’s our version – “The Stuff You Really Wanted For Christmas But Didn’t Get.” That’s right, we gathered up the coolest Slam’d parts, gear, and merch that was probably at the…Continue Reading
“Straya” (Australia, our minitruckin’ brothers and sisters from down under) has really grown in the custom truck scene over the last ten years or so. One of the country’s hottest shows now takes place on the Northeast coast in Queensland, which happens to be one of the strictest states for chassis modifications, so this is where the truly hardcore dwell. Wrong Turn Cruise was birthed in the sweltering summer of 2009 in the small beachside town of Tannum Sands, Central Queensland. It began as a low-key cruise and camp with a few truck friends, and had all the usual hallmarks of a minitruck gathering: car problems, smack-talk, beers and cranky caravan park managers. It might have been a once-off too, were it not for the innocent question posted on an Aussie truck forum the following year “is that Wrong Turn Cruise happening again this year?”  Photos: Avit “Toasty” Chauhan | Words: Archie…Continue Reading
Anyone that’s ever hosted or helped out on throwing a car show knows what kind of hard work and just how big of an undertaking this task really is. Sure, it sounds like it’d be all fun and games, but the work is intense and sometimes a thankless job. Just choosing a show date working around all the other shows and events out there is a daunting task. But here at Slam’d Mag we appreciated these champions of the scene that continue to host events for all of us to attend and keep this going for generations to come. Severed In The Southwest is no different, these guys work hard year round just to bring you something fun to do with your car buddies in December. Rain or shine (luckily it was shine this year), the SSW crew hosts one of AZ’s premier shows.  Photos & Words: Frank “BST Clothing” Newton…Continue Reading
If you don’t know the name Robbie Bryant or KEG Media by now you should probably head on over to our good friend “Mr. Google” and look up their previous builds that have been taking place over the last two decades. Robbie Bryant’s name is synonymous with badass vehicle builds from every automotive genre across the board. Beginning with lowered cars and trucks, Robbie has since taken over and now heavily dominates the lifted truck arena. Having been tied to the custom automotive scene for the past 25 years, with a number of epic builds on his resume, for SEMA 2014 Robbie wanted to do something a bit different. Returning to his roots in the Slam’d arena, he opted to build a full custom euro branching out a little from his comfort zone. The urge for this build came from wanting to cross over into the euro scene and build a car that he…Continue Reading
When you’re at the top of your game in any field you want nothing but the best to showcase your skill and talent, and for Eric Conner and the crew at So-Cal Suspension in sunny San Diego, California it’s certainly no different – even even down to their “simple” shop truck build. Having started the business back in 1999 Eric quickly set to work establishing a name for himself as the premier suspension go-to guy in the Southern California area, which is no easy feat by any stretch of the terms. Eric worked around the clock, turning out customer cars by day and working on some of his own creations by night to help showcase the shop’s full potential.  Photos: David Moore | Words: Steven “Chance” Berndsen This classy shop truck is the latest creation in his line-up with the build showcasing just what the shop is capable of when it…Continue Reading
